ANOTHER GREAT DAY ON THE ALLEGHENY!
The hills were alive with the sounds of beautiful beagle music.
Saturday, February 10, 2018, despite the rain and warm temperatures, was a great day to be on the Allegheny in pursuit of the illusive snowshoe hare.
Andy and I hit the big woods on an early start and had probably more than one chase going for the next 4 1/2 hours. The snow pack was slowly settling with warm temps above 32 degrees during our stay in the hare woods. The snow was still deep enough for some of the younger beagles. A wet and heavy snow probably made it even tougher for the hounds. Despite all of the above, the beagles did an outstanding job.
Andy's newest little hound, Emma, did what the High HareMan called, "A great try for such a young beagle." Emma is only seven (7) months old.
Andy's older hound, Teagan, did an exemplary job as can be seen in the video I will present for your viewing pleasure.
Video below is of Teagan hot on the chase.
You may have to look closely to see the the hare near the beginning of the video.
