GREETINGS TO ALL BIG WOODS HARE HUNTERS of the ALLEGHENY, FANS
OF THE ALLEGHENY NATIONAL FOREST AND OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS EVERYWHERE.
This past week (February 24-March 2, 2019) was a great time to be on the high plateau and enjoy the beauty and majesty of the Allegheny National Forest.
The weather was near perfect for chasing the elusive snowshoe hare with beagles.
A fresh blanket of snow made scenting conditions almost perfect every
morning.
The weather was close to perfection for the humans as well. Brisk, but
not cold, air temperatures made everything about being outdoors near ideal.
The
only day we didn’t enjoy complete success was yesterday, Saturday, March 2nd.
We failed to get a hare up and running where only a few days before the beagles
ran a magnificent snowshoe hare for more than four (4) hours. The videos of that day are posted here.
