Andy Hoover with his beagle, Emma, and a trophy snowshoe hare.Longtime snowshoe hare hunter and outdoorsman, Andy Hoover of Shippenville, PA, has been discovered on the cover of the national niche magazine.Andy was photographed following a successful kill while hunting snowshoe hare on a rocky mountain top in the central mountains of Maine in late October 2021.As a charter member of The Big Woods Hare Hunters of the Allegheny he has led his beagles for snowshoe hare across the Northeastern United States from Pennsylvania to the Tug Hill Plateau and the Adirondacks of New York State to the Central Mountains of Maine. A veteran rabbit and hare hunter, Andy, has been hunting with beagles for almost 50 years. Falling in love with Maine, Andy has enjoyed many adventures in the mountains of Maine over more than 20 years. Many of those years he has visited Maine in both fall and winter.While hunting the mountains of Central Maine in winter, Andy has experienced real winter conditions far above what most of us are accustomed to in Pennsylvania. Andy currently campaigns 3 beagles named Teagun, Emma and Sadie.
