Headquartered in Western Pennsylvania, high on the Allegheny Plateau, resides a band of outdoor men and women dedicated to the preservation of one of Pennsylvania’s little known but greatest and most valuable natural resources. Founded in 2002 this small but ever expanding group of devoted beaglers, veteran snowshoe hare hunters, outdoor enthusiasts and conservationists love to get out into the elements, enjoy the thrill of the chase and take pleasure in the beautiful beagle music as it rings across the scenic Allegheny Plateau. The organization is The Big Woods Hare Hunters of the Allegheny and the resource is the beautiful, majestic and magnificent varying hare or snowshoe hare.
The Big Woods Hare Hunters of the Allegheny are dedicated to the conservation of the illusive and omnipotent snowshoe hare. We take pride in our objective of preserving the varying hare for future generations in Pennsylvania.
The Big Woods Hare Hunters of the Allegheny strive to support our youth and veterans in the pursuit of their dreams in the great outdoors. The board of directors of the Big Woods Hare Hunters of the Allegheny have elected to financially support Camo Cares as our charity of choice. We also support Clarion County Sportsmen for Youth Inc., Fryburg Junior Marksmen and the Clarion County YMCA. Our youth is the future for all things outdoors.
The Big Woods Hare Hunters of the Allegheny honor our American Heroes who have given all in the defense of The Greatest Country on Earth, the United States of America.
